SIX pupils from Mounton House School near Chepstow showcased their fly fishing skills at the Senedd on Wednesday, June 29. 

Headteacher Beverly Randall said: “The pupils have been participating in Fishing for Schools, run by The Countryside Alliance, which aims to teach young people the unique skills involved in fly fishing and offers them a gateway into the natural world.

“The experience these pupils have gained has been invaluable and they have benefited hugely in and out of the classroom. From learning about fishing to gaining life and social skills, this programme has raised their levels of confidence and self-esteem, instilled courage and patience and given them a great sense of achievement.”

The event in Cardiff aimed to promote and raise awareness of the programme and was attended by pupils from schools across Wales.
