A CULT local band is reforming after 20 years for one special performance at a summer festival in Chepstow.

Music shop owner and organiser of the Castell Roc festival Carol Mutlow has persuaded celtic rock outfit The Belgians to get together to support The South at this year's event in Chepstow Castle.

The South is made up of former members of The Beautiful South which was one of Britain's biggest bands in the 1990s.

Carol, who runs Hannah's Music in Moor Street, Chepstow, said: "I found myself struggling to find a  band who play the sort of  music to support The South at Castell Roc on  August 21 inside Chepstow castle.

"I decided a celtic rock band would fit in quite nicely, but for me the only band that would come close to being able to support such an iconic band as The South with the genre of music that I wanted would be The Belgians but that might be a problem as they split up 20 years ago.

"So I asked the the members of The Belgians, Ian Luther, Garry Davies and Dave Cox with whom I am still in contact, if  they would consider reforming for a one off performance to support The South and they agreed."

They tracked down the fourth member, Jess Butler, who has agreed to travel from her home in Scotland to complete the line-up.

Carol added: "The band had a huge following in Chepstow and the Forest and I'm thrilled to say The Belgians are reforming for one night only."
