INTERNATIONALLY known local author, Andrew Taylor will be at Mitcheldean library on
Wednesday, May 25 at 7.30pm to give a talk about his work.
Taylor is best known for his crime novels, including the Lydmouth series and has lived in the Forest of Dean for over thirty years. He says: “It’s a great place for artists, musicians and writers. It’s a beautiful area, and the Forest itself is ideal for long, meditative walks and you hardly meet a soul. I sometimes think I do most of my creative thinking as I plod along under the trees. Keen-eyed readers will find traces of the Forest in some of my settings.
“Like every other author I know, I’m a great supporter of libraries. They’re not just about books – they are the cultural heart of their village or town. I’m particularly pleased to be doing an event at Mitcheldean Library, because it’s a welcoming community library run by hard-working volunteers who need all the support we can give them.”
This is one of a series of similar talks the library has been hosting over the past few months to raise funds and raise its profile.
Volunteer Isobel Hunt says: “Initial funding for this came from a Forest of Dean District Council community grant last autumn. We are hoping to create a ‘feel good’ factor in the locality by bringing people together for these social and cultural events and we’d like to thank Andrew for offering his services for free to support us.”
