FOREST Sea Cadets shone in the Sea Cadet South West Area five-a-side football tournament, coming second overall out of 30 entrants.
The competition, which was hosted this year in Cheltenham, saw teams from Cornwall to Warwickshire battling for honours.
The Forest of Dean cadets battled hard and after a close fought tournament finally came out runners up to Avon District.
Cadet Amy Stewart from the Junior Girls' team said : "Each game was really good. We all played really well. Even in the games we lost there was a real team spirit and we did not give up."
The Forest of Dean team qualified as champions of the Severn District area, beating the other 10 other teams in their category.
Team manager Petty Officer Chris Toner said: "This is good progress for the team. We are the best in the district and runners up in the South West area. There is no shame in being second best in such a large area. The cadets can be proud of what they have achieved."
