FOREST charity Crossroads Care scooped a number of awards last week at a ceremony in Cheltenham.

Crossroads Care was acknowledged as an ‘organisation of excellence in the delivery of care and support throughout the Forest of Dean’ at the second Gloucester Care Providers Association Care Awards held at Cheltenham Racecourse.

The team won a number of other awards too: Sasha Wilks won the category for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Care’, Julie Kingston, Teresa Gibson and Hayley Bennett were recognised for ‘Innovation in Care’ and for the second year running ‘Team of the Year’ went to Hayley Bennett, Julie Kingston, Teresa Gibson, Lisa Bevan, Mel Beckett and George Hale.

Amanda Morgan, Crossroads Care operations manager says: “We are incredibly proud of all our staff and the caring and professional support they offer the Forest of Dean community. It acknowledges their hard work and dedication that we have ten staff members as finalists.”

Other finalists were June Pearce for ‘Carer of the Year’, Sue Davies in the ‘Making a difference in Dementia’ category and Mark Jones for ‘Unsung Hero’.

Amanda added: “It was delight that Dr Dawn Harper of Channel Four’s Embarrassing Bodies presented the awards. Dawn told the audience ‘those people in care who go above and beyond, working with some of the most vulnerable people, often go without recognition. These awards are an opportunity to demonstrate how valuable the care staff are within Gloucestershire.’”
