A LECTURER from the Forest of Dean has been selected to take part in the national finals of the Miss British Isles modelling competition next week.
Trudi Taylor, from Mitcheldean, will compete against a host of finalists from across the UK for the Classic Miss British Isles 2020/21 title at Chester Racecourse next Thursday (September 2).
The competition attracts a huge number of entries every year which the judges whittle down to 50 finalists, who are then offered the chance to represent their home area at the national event.
Trudi, who previously worked as a commercial and swimwear model in her younger years, is a qualified further education lecturer and has worked with adults with special needs for many years.
Last year, she became a "supporting artiste" when she appeared in a dystopian interactive film for the Netflix-backed app Whatifi, and also worked on a Bollywood film set.
Her hobbies include riding her horse, Jacko, and walking her three dogs Russia, Rollo and Dora.
She has also made jewellery for "lords and ladies" having set up her own business and workshop a few years ago.
Trudi says she loves to make jewellery from materials such as horse and pet hair, ashes and breast milk.
The Miss British Isles competition is made up of several titles including Little, Junior, Junior-Teen, Teen, Miss, Elegance and Classic.
Trudi was named ’Classic Miss Southern’ as part of the competition in 2020.
If she wins the national title, she will receive a host of prizes including a modelling and influencer contract, professional photoshoots, specially selected fashion wear and introductions to leading UK modelling agencies.
For the competition, Trudi will take part in a professional photoshoot prior to the final, and then a catwalk show in front of the judges during the main event.
The winner will then be announced on the day.
