THE turnout in the Forest of Dean Council area in yesterday’s referendum on Britain’s future in or out of the EU was 77.47%.

Local counting officer Claire Hughes made the announcement at the Oaklands Snooker Centre in Cinderford where the count is taking place.

The total electorate was 66,705 and there were 51,678 votes cast.

Counting of the votes has yet to start.
