THE letter 'The Forest as an urban dump' regarding the state of the woods since Forest Enterprise was installed has prompted me to put in writing another example of inefficiency.

Has anyone noticed the appalling mess left after the so-called car park construction adjacent to Ellwood School?

The ground designated for the car park is leased by Ellwood School from Forest Enterprise. This area has been desecrated by the school authorities who obviously did not have the expertise to carry out such a project.

The peripheral boundary resembles a 'slag heap' and the roadside bund opposite, where the excess soil was dumped, defies description. The entrance and half the car park have developed large water filled craters and the membrane laid down to allow water to flow through is being pulled up by birds – a disgrace at the entrance to Ellwood and an insult to residents.

Prior to construction, Forest Enterprise assured close residents that the work would be overseen by themselves and the area restored to everyone's satisfaction, which they have failed to do. We have constantly barraged Forest Enterprise with phone calls and letters, only to be given lip service. After eight months we are still awaiting action.

Due to the deteriorating state of the car park some parents, teachers and people attending the chapel functions are boycotting this facility, therefore causing more congestion and danger by roadside parking than previously.

Perhaps Forest Enterprise should take their blinkers off and look a little further than cycle tracks and tourist attractions and concentrate on Forest residents' requirements. – Mary Hill, Ellwood.
