A WELL-KNOWN Bream sheep badger is warning dog owners to keep their dogs on a lead or he'll take "drastic action".

The stark message comes from Gilbert Morse who found a heavily pregnant sheep savaged by a dog on common land last Tuesday morning (January 21).

Local builders driving through Moseley Green past the chapel called Mr Morse when they noticed a dog attacking a sheep.

He said: "By the time Jeremy (Audrey) and I arrived the dog had gone and the sheep's stomach and back legs were covered in blood. As the sheep belonged to Jeremy we took it back to his field and checked its injuries.

"In the last two months there have been four separate occasions where sheep have been attacked by dogs that have not been on a lead. Most of the female sheep are pregnant at the moment and so can't run away from danger.

"I am a dog lover but I can't deal with dogs attacking sheep. I see runners all the time on common land with their dogs off the lead and it frustrates me because by law dogs should be kept under control and on a lead at all times.

"I wish to warn dog owners that this can't go on and if it does I will apply for a licence through the Commoners Association to shoot their dogs if they harm a sheep – but I don't really want to have to go down this road. All I want people to do is keep their dogs on a lead and protect my sheep.

"I've also recently witnessed a dog chase two deer into the road from Cock Shoot wood at Moseley Green and cause a young female driver with children in the back of the car to swerve to avoid an accident. The problem is these dogs are charging off leaving their owners behind and so they aren't controlled."
