FOUR people are this week being interviewed for the post of Chief Constable of Gloucestershire.
The three men and one woman are all current Deputy Chief Constables. They were shortlisted after eight people applied for the post.
The interview panel include Martin Surl, Gloucestershire Police and Crime Commissioner; David Hagg, Chief Executive of Stroud District Council (representing Gloucestershire's local authorities); John Donlon, Policing Advisor, National Co-ordinator of Protect and Prepare, Association of Chief Police Officers; Pauline Dixon, independent advisor; and Dr Shona Arora, Director of Public Health for Gloucestershire.
After the interviews, Pauline Dixon will submit a report on the selection process to Gloucestershire's Police and Crime Panel and ask it to confirm the appointment when it meets on January 14.
The Constabulary's Temporary Chief Constable, Mick Matthews, leaves Gloucestershire on January 31 to take up the post of Chief Constable of the Sovereign Base Areas Police Service in Cyprus. It is hoped that the new Chief Constable will be able to take up the post as soon as possible after the selection, says a force statement.
