FORMED just over a year ago to help raise money for the Dean Forest Hospice project, 'Friends of Great Oaks' has boosted the fund with a £5,000 donation.
The Friends was the idea of six local people and they have raised the money by organising a variety of events from concerts to cake stalls.
They handed over their first £5,000 to hospice official Sheila Evans on Sunday when they organised a St George's Day lunch at Forest Hills, Coleford.
The lunch gave the Friends another boost – it raised a further £900.
