A CINDERFORD landmark is no more...the Bridge Inn which has marked the Valley Road gateway to the town for generations has been levelled by a couple of swipes from a JCB.
Cinderford reader Mark Turner sent us these pictures of the demolition in progress.
The future of the site remains uncertain, although Forest of Dean District Council planners have approved the construction of six apartments for private accommodation, plus parking, after refusing plans for eight apartments during 2008.
For the moment at least the cleared corner gives traffic emerging from Valley Road a better view of what is coming down the steep approach hill at the T-junction.
But hundreds of former patrons will mourn the passing of yet another well-known Forest watering hole.
