GABRIEL Cox from Coleford is off to to Zanzibar Island in Tanzania on July 1 to work on a community project.

"I will be working in schools for eight weeks to teach the children and adults English and will also be working with the primary school children, helping them to paint, draw and generally develop their potential skills," he says.

"I will also be working in a tourism institute, set up so that local people may learn skills to work in the all-important tourism trade.

"In the off-season month of Ramadan, manual labour will be undertaken to repair the run-down buildings and also we shall be cleaning up the beach of unwanted rubbish to help preserve the maritime environment.

"I have been fundraising for this for four months now and am still arranging events including a dinner at the Littledean House Hotel on June 24 (7pm). For more details you can contact me on 01594 839269."
