THERE will be a Georgian flavour to the On the Way to the Wye AONB event taking place in Ross this Saturday (June 18).

The Georgian era was one of the most important periods for the Wye Valley. when the Wye Tour became one of the 'must see' tourism destinations and the Picturesque movement took shape.

The third anniversary On the Way to the Wye event is organised by the AONB and Overlooking the Wye Landscape Partnership Project, which has seen the successful enhancement or refurbishment of over 40 sites throughout the area.

Living history demonstrations of Georgian life take place at the Caroline Symonds Gardens, where reenactors will be showing the public aspects of Georgian life including musket and sword drill by the soldiers of the Worcester Yeomanry Cavalry and the 28th Gloucestershire Regiment of Foot.

A quartet will be playing some of the top Georgian hits of the day and pupils from John Kyrle High School and Ashfield Park Primary School will be putting on an art display and performances. Children can look forward to Punch and Judy, face painting and a variety of games together with a charity sedan race.

The Herefordshire Walking Festival week will be launched at 10.15am from the bandstand by South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman when walkers can enjoy a guided John Kyrle walk by Ross Ramblers.
