A FORTIES swing band dance will be held at Lydney Town Hall on Saturday, April 25 to raise money for the Poppy Appeal and the Dean Forest Railway.

Dancers can enjoy the music of Glen Miller and other big bands of the 1940s with the Fabulous Forties Swing Band.

Forties dress or uniforms are optional and there will be real ale on sale at the bar.

A spokesman for the Poppy Appeal said: "The Poppy Appeal is an all-year-round charity that has been supporting the service and ex-service community and their families since 1921.

"With the British Armed Forces on active duty in Afghanistan and Iraq, a large proportion of whom are currently under 30, the Legion's role of safeguarding the welfare and interests of serving and ex-service people will be needed for many years to come.

"In these difficult economic times it is needed more than ever.

"Help us to boost the total raised for the Poppy Appeal in Gloucestershire to show our support for those who put their lives on the line in the service of their country."

Tickets are available from Copycats, Lydney or Norchard Station Shop or by post from Poppy Appeal, 59 Greenmeadow Drive, Penhow, Caldicot, NP26 3AQ. Please make cheques payable to Royal British Legion and enclose an SAE.
