AVID reader, Gillian Northy, 79, has helped found an in-house library and book club for retirees who can no longer make the trip to the library.

Gillian, based at McCarthy & Stone's Wallace Court retirement development came up with the idea for the club when she visited a friend in a development down south.

"The residents I visited loved the book club so much I wanted to introduce it to Wallace Court. When I told everyone about it here, they asked me to call our library straight away to arrange for some books to be delivered.

"Our local library service now deliverers 50 books every two months for us to read at our leisure. It has been a great way to bring everyone together as we all socialise in the lounge discussing the books we are currently reading."
