TV presenter Alex Jones and the singer best known for his role in a long-running series of adverts joined three choirs for an evening of music.

Alex, who co-presents BBC1’s The One Show and tenor Wynne Evans, who appears in the Go Compare adverts, hosted a concert by Caldicot, Chepstow and Monmouth male voice choirs in aid of the National Eisteddfod which comes to

Monmouthshire next month.

Both hosts are veterans of the Eisteddfod and Alex urged people to visit the event when it comes to Abergavenny.

She said: “The Eisteddfod gives young people a unique opportunity to compete in a wonderful atmosphere.

“If they do not want to perform on stage, they can get involved in the art and craft.”

Alex competed in the recitation competition and also as a dancer – although she admitted the clog dance was not a good look.

She said: “I had thin legs and these huge clogs – I looked like a pair of golf clubs.”

She also praised the three choirs and the location: “It’s been a fantastic evening of music in lovely surroundings.”
