What is going on?

Our banking institution has collapsed and we are told by politicians who have investigated the collapse that it was city bonuses that caused this to happen.

Our politicians have now been exposed over the abuse of allowances that are generously provided for them to do their job.

We are told by politicians that when we, the people, commit offences and errors in paying our taxes or oversight on benefits, that mistakes and misjudgement of our position are not excuses in law, and will be prosecuted. What then of them and their predicaments of mistakes and misjudgements?

What is central to these recent problems?

You have to look at the political system in this country. The politicians relaxed the rules that govern the banks and they also write the rules that govern their pay and conditions. (I leave the reader to make up their own minds).

Why does all this then go wrong? It's because they think only of themselves and the money they can make from positions of trust that we naively give to them.

Who suffers most? The answer is people who pay taxes and those who save to make things better for their futures. How many readers have invested and lost their money only to find that it was subjected to mis-selling and greed by advisors who have taken your money and left you with the problem?

What comes next?

The excessive profits of our largest companies with the likes of Shell, BP and Tesco that can publish huge profits in a time when ordinary good people are struggling to make ends meet.

How much profit do you need to show that you are successful or greedy? Because to make excessive profits could mean that we are all paying excessive prices.

Where do we go from here? We need to be sure that these people and institutions are accountable to the very people that give them positions of trust and that they have good moral standing.

Remember the banks can only survive by you using their institution and the government can only survive if we all continue to vote and to pay taxes that we believe will be used for the good of the people and the nation as a whole. – Robert Harris, ex Berry Hill.
