DESPITE the cold weather over the Easter weekend the Dean Heritage Centre said it pulled in more than 3000 visitors.

After months of preparing for their highly anticipated Gruffalo's Child Trail, the Centre's hard work finally paid off as the car park remained jam packed all weekend.

Centre Manager, Nathalie Hall, said: "We were hoping for a large turnout but when we looked back over the figures for the weekend we couldn't believe how successful it was. The turnout was fantastic given that the weather threatened to ruin things only a few days before. People from all over the country came to gain a first glimpse of the imaginative trail – and at one point we had to call in extra volunteers to help."

Not only did people come in their droves to see the Centre's new grisly addition but as Nathalie said: "People could see the spectacular new woodland trail, take part in creative craft activities, listen to captivating storytelling and watch the official Gruffalo's Child animated film on the big screen in the centre's onsite meeting room. I can't thank all the staff and volunteers enough for their help up until the last minute."
