A NEW guides group has been formed in Caldicot.

The 1st Caldicot senior section is aimed at young women between the ages of 14 and 25.

The section currently has seven members and was formed to allow young helpers who assist with Brownie and Rainbow groups around the town to be able to get together.

Beth Bradley, who is one of the members, said: “The idea behind senior section is that it will be run by girls for girls.

“It’s a way for them to integrate, make friends and do fun things they may not have tried before.

“We have people who help with Brownies around Caldicot and forming a senior section means they can get together.”

The group is planning a range of activities from camping to workshops on body image, the Duke of Edinburgh award and opportunities to add to qualifications for running Brownie groups.

They also hope to raise funds to be able to attend next year’s Big Gig, a concert in London for Guides.

At their last meeting they held a baking competition.

The section meets every other Thursday evenings at 7.30pm at the Guide Hall off Cae Mawr Road and the next one will be on November 19.
