MEMBERS and staff of a Forest gym took part in a 24-hour sponsored spin to raise money for Lydney Hospital.

The competitive fund-raisers at Forest Fitness in Church Road raced each other for two hours at a time and at the end of it managed to clock up an impressive 18,036 kilometres (11,272 miles) – about the distance from the Forest to New Zealand.

The event raised £453 for the hospital which was presented to the League of Friends.

Wayne Nyland of Forest Fitness said: "Forest Fitness would like to thank all those who took part and donated.

"We could not have done it without you and thanks to everyone's generous donations we have presented the League of Friends at Lydney Hospital with a cheque for £453."
