A MUCH-loved, mum, grandma and great-grandmother described as “Cinderford through and through” has celebrated her 100th birthday.

Dorothy Harris was surrounded by four generations of her family and friends for the celebration at Cinderford Rugby Club on Sunday evening (February 9).

She was born in Valley Road, Cinderford, one of the seven children of  Fred and Liz Butler.

Dorothy went to Bilson School and then Double View, before leaving to work at the Meredith and Drew biscuit factory.

She also worked in the kitchens at Lydbrook Hospital, Westbury Court and Littledean Guest House.

Dorothy married Bill Harris, and they had two children, Terry and Jane.

Mrs Harris, who still lives in her own home in Cinderford, is now the head of a family of four generations, including four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Among the well-wishers at Sunday evening’s celebrations were Cinderford town clerk Linda Thomas and town councillor Graham Morgan who presented her with a bunch of flowers.

Mrs Thomas said: “Dorothy is Cinderford through and through – she is just amazing and Cinderford Town Council wanted to mark the occasion.”
