LOYAL Foresters celebrated the Queen’s 90th birthday with parties and the lighting of beacons.

On the day itself – Thursday, April 21– beacons were lit at Pan Tod near Ruardean and on Primrose Hill in Lydney.

Schools including Woolaston and St Mary’s Roman Catholic primaries had special tea parties and pensioners at the Goode Court complex in Lydney joined in the fun with help from volunteers from the local branch of Tesco.

The green alongside the main road through St Briavels was also brightly decorated with pictures of the Queen and bunting.

On Saturday, Lydney Town Council held a celebration for the town in Bathurst Park with many attractions including Bollywood dancers and Punch and Judy.
