THE Forest Council is inviting locals to suggest where land in the district could be used for housing.
The yearly study, required by government planning policy, will help to show that there is currently a sufficient supply of land to meet the community’s housing needs as expressed in the council’s core strategy and associated planning documents. In addition, it allows the council to keep its list of potential sites as up to date as possible.
All sites suggested will then be assessed to see if they are suitable for development.
The council stresses that the assessment does not determine whether a site will be allocated for housing development in the future.
To download a form visit www.fdean.gov.uk and visit the Environment and Planning/LocalDevelopment Framework/Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) pages.
Forms must be returned by Friday, November 20.
All information supplied to the district council will be available publicly.
Leader of the council, Cllr Patrick Molyneux (Con, Hewelsfield and Woolaston) said: “During the consultation period we are keen to hear from the public and organisations with suggestions for possible sites for housing development. Housing is a top priority for the council and a lot of work has gone on in the district to deliver homes for local people. The identification of possible new sites for development will help us continue this work in the future.”
