RICHARD Elliott's head for heights will be tested this weekend when he takes on a 400-feet bungee jump to raise funds for the Children's Opportunity Centre in Coleford.

He caught the bungee bug after trying it for his 30th birthday but that was 'only' 160 feet.

Richard, who works at Federal Mogul in Lydney, will jump from a 300ft high crane which will be on a 100ft cliff at the National Diving Centre in Tidenham on Saturday.

He decided to raise money for the Opportunity Centre as a 'thank you' for the help it has given his niece, Chloe Ford, who has cerebral palsy.

Richard is being backed by Stuart Jenkins, the golf pro at Bells in Coleford and a former team-mate at Milkwall football club, who is paying the £125 cost of the jump.

Richard said: "The Opportunity Centre has really helped my niece and I wanted to give something back.

"I'm very grateful to Stuart for sponsoring me as it means we'll be able to give more the centre.

"My sister organised for me to do a bungee for my 30th birthday but that was only 130 feet."

The original target of £250 has already been passed and more information about the jump is available by searching for Richard's name on http://www.charitygiving.co.uk">www.charitygiving.co.uk
