THE Heart of the Forest Community Special School sees the official opening of new facilites for Early Years, Key Stage 4 and Further Education on Tuesday June 21.

Councillor Jackie Hall will officially declare the new buildings open.  There will be a clown throughout the day to entertain the children and the school's choir will perform at the ceremony.

"The new buildings provide us with sufficient facilities to eventually accommodate 100 pupils with our numbers rising to 90 by September 2011," said head teacher Melissa Bradshaw.

"The pupils are thoroughly enjoying the extra space within our beautiful building and the new outdoor play areas and are benefitting from increased learning opportunities."

The original opening of the school took place in 2006 when Princess Anne officiated.

Mrs Bradshaw added: "It has been a privilege to be a part of the development of this excellent facility for children with learning difficulties within the Forest of Dean."
