A MUCH-loved family dog who ran off into the Forest more than a fortnight ago is still missing despite huge efforts to find him.

The owners of husky Archie say they have been overwhelmed by the support from local people since he disappeared on a walk at the Sculpture Trail - and are asking walkers and others to continue looking out for him.

Archie, a seven-year-old husky, slipped his lead while on a walk with owner Mary Falzon on Sunday, December 19.

There have been several confirmed sightings and efforts to locate him have included the use of drones, night-vision scopes and even tracker dogs.

Ms Falzon’s partner, Tim Mitchell, said: "We’ve had a couple of sightings which have been confirmed by professional scent tracker dogs but they’ve not been able to pick up the direction he’s gone in.

He was sighted at Worrall Hill and Ruardean and there was a sighting yesterday (Monday, January 3) by a family cycling on the Sculpture Trail.

"I’ve put him all over Forest of Dean social media.

’’Loads of local people have been out helping and supporting and sending lovely messages which is fantastic but he is still at large unfortunately.

"He’s one of three (huskies) and we are desperate to get him back.

"We’ve had him since he was eight weeks old so he’s very much part of the family so the last two weeks have been pretty traumatic.

"The people of the Forest of Dean have been quite remarkable.

’’The kindness of the people of the area has been quite overwheming especially Nicky Smith (of Forest of Dean Dogs Lost and Found)."

Mr Mitchell asked that if anyone did see Archie to inform Forest of Dean Dogs Lost and Found, himself or Ms Falzon through social media with a location and in which direction he was headed.
