THE Dean Heritage Centre in Soudley is looking for more volunteers for public-facing roles.

A spokesman said: "The Centre has had a particularly busy summer, and is now looking to recruit more volunteers to support its continuing success for the rest of the year, and on into 2010."

Among its needs are front of house volunteers, whose tasks include making sure the museum and gallery activities are ready for visitors.

"They are also the first smiling face people see as they walk through the door, taking admissions, working in the gift shop and giving visitor information."

Successful applicants will be given full training and ongoing support.

Also needed are craft session volunteers, which the Centre says is a chance to gain valuable experience with children, families, and any other visitors, mainly at weekends and during school holidays.

"Both of these roles are busy, fulfilling, and above all a lot of fun. Our team of volunteers includes everyone from students to retired people, and lots more in between," says the centre.
