A NEW stone marking the highest point of the Forest has been unveiled.
The stone at Pan Tod beacon at Ruardean Hill is a partnership between the Friends of Pan Tod group and the Forestry Commission.
The stone, which marks the high point of 951 feet was unveiled by members of the group and Forestry Commission representatives last Friday (June 24).
The stone was made by Mr Ernie Jones, one of the Friends of Pan Tod, who lives just a few yards from where it has been laid.
He said: “The stone has been put on the exact spot where the flagpole that Queen Victoria unveiled stood.”
