PLANS for a new estate twice the size of an existing villlage looks likely to be resisted by planners.

An application for outline planning permission to build 340 homes on the former paper mill at Sudbrook has been submitted to Monmouthshire Council.

There are currently around 170 houses in Sudbrook, a village that can only be accessed by crossing a single-lane bridge over the Newport to Gloucester railway line.

Around 60 villagers attended a public meeting last week at Archbishop Rowan Williams primary school in Portsketwett to discuss the proposal by Harrow Estates.
