A SEVERNSIDE town’s only theatre space hosted two pantos over the festive period – and organisers hope they won’t be the last at the venue.

Big audiences enjoyed A Budget Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty at Caldicot Musical Theatre Society’s Hub at Castlegate Business Park.

Although landlords Monmouthshire County Council lifted the immediate threat of eviction, the long-term future is not settled.

But that did not prevent the Stage Door Actors’ Studio – a group for young people – and the musical theatre society putting on rip-roaring productions of A Budget Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty respectively.

Amy Gibbs, who runs Actors’ Studio and was also the producer for Sleeping Beauty, said: “I’m so proud of what everyone achieved – their hard work has certainly paid off.”

Musical Theatre Society chair of trustees Jo Postle added: “It saddens me to think that this may be the last production in our venue, but that doesn’t mean that it’s our last performance ever. We will continue to provide entertainment to the community and to develop the talent within it.”
