I didn't know that people in Bream married horses, but it goes to show how much I have to learn about the ways of the Forest.

With reference to Chas Stent's letter 'Couldn't care less', (April 6) about Catholic Archbishops opposing same sex marriage. I completely agree with him that it is the way that we live that really matters.

However, as long as Catholic Archbishops are practicing what they preach in their own lives, wouldn't it be a dereliction of duty if they didn't speak out on important issues? Just as horses need fencing to contain them, doesn't society need rules for good order?

Often we will differ in our opinion of which rules we have, but surely healthy debate will be furthered when we can agree to disagree. After all, we can be firm in our opinions without being judgemental. I will back any horse named 'Tolerance'.
