GREENMAN Backpackers Hostel in Chepstow was the setting for a social evening for the Chepstow branch of the Royal British Legion (RBL) on March 28.

The event was hosted by Mick and Vanessa Lewis in the hostel’s Widders Bar.

Chepstow Poppy Appeal Organiser Sandra Bushell, said: “It was extremely well attended and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The evening concluded with the presentation of a cheque for £1,135  by Mick and Vanessa to the RBL’s Poppy Appeal.  

“These  funds had been raised at the recent singer-songwriter Edwina Hayes’ concert held at the Drill Hall, Chepstow, which had been organised by Mick together with Tim Ryan.”   

President of the Royal British Legion, Joyce Miles, thanked Mick, Vanessa and Tim for all of their hard work and went on to say how much the branch appreciated their efforts and their ongoing support for the RBL.  

Ms Bushell added: “The cheque will be a tremendous boost to Chepstow’s contribution to the National Poppy Appeal.”
