A HOUSEHOLDER had a lucky escape after fire broke out on the upstairs floor of a three-storey semi-detached Forest property on Sunday evening.

Firefighters from Coleford and Lydney were called to the house in Parkend Road, Whitecroft, around 7pm, and the road was closed to traffic.

Around 90% of the third floor was damaged, with smoke damage to the first and second floors.

The householder spotted the fire, which is not being treated as suspicious, and called 999 and managed to escape without injury.
