CHILDREN and teachers at Come and Play Day Nursery in Lydney created memory balloons on Friday, May 26, to remember the 22 lives lost in last month’s attack at the Manchester Arena.

Kimberley Howard, manager of the nursery said: “The pre-school children knew what had happened, so instead of ignoring it we decided to run a story-telling session to explain it, using the British values we’re required to incorporate in everything we do.

“The children and teachers talked about kind hands and the importance of respecting everybody in the world regardless of race or religion.

“For the rest of the day we heard children talking about using kind hands.

“The children took home the balloons, which had a bit of information on about what we did, she added.

“We were truly touched by the love and empathy and respect the children had for the people who lost their lives and the parents loved the fact that we had told such a devastating story in such a

positive way with the children.”
