I GET more disillusioned by the day with our MPs. It seems to me that all they are interested in is their own welfare.

They are asking for £100k per annum plus expenses, and are trying to avoid anyone using the Freedom of Information to find out how much they get.

Recently they had the opportunity to address the scandal of the collapsed pension schemes but they voted overwhelmingly to stop the help to the victims of these injustices. Have they any conscience at all?

Their pensions are 'copper bottomed and gold plated'. What hypocrites.

I think Genghis Khan had more compassion than our MPs.

The way the gap between the rich and poor has widened is a scandal.

The PM's latest budget, when he stopped the 10 per cent tax band and then took 2p off the basic rate, is a prime example of his contempt for the poor.

Yet he allows the very rich to avoid paying their fair 'whack' of tax, via financial advisers. Example; the owner of the Arcadia group gave himself a hand-out of £1.2 billion on which he paid no tax yet he sent Sylvia Hardy and a retired vicar to prison for refusing to pay a slight increase in council tax. One law for the rich one for the poor. I could go on ad-infinitum.

My late wife and I were sponsors of the Labour Party to get them in power. I bitterly regret every penny we gave. George Sankey, Aust Crescent, Chepstow.
