I TOO have been growing a cactus like Rosina pictured in a recent Review.
The cactus is Echinopsis Multiplex and comes from South America. It was imported in the 1970s as a kind of utilitarian "starter" cactus, I believe.
I bought mine in 1976 and although it's not as impressive as Rosina's, my "mother cactus" has 13 flowers on at the moment. From this cactus I have raised quite a few which I give out to friends and family. – Mark, Tutshill.
