YOUNG fundraising champ, Ned Kilner, is at it yet again.

Despite having broken his arm tangling with a trampoline, the seven-year-old from Ruardean has persuaded district council staff and, possibly, county council staff to hold a 'dress down' day at the end of July to bump up his collection for the homeless.

Mum, Lou Tonkin, said: "There's no stopping him. In spite of the fact he's broken his arm and its in a sling, he's still been keeping on about fundraising."

Ned was first inspired when he was shocked by meeting a homeless person in Gloucester city centre. After donating his pocket money he set about doing a sponsored walk from Ruardean to Gloucester and followed it with a jumble sale and afternoon tea at Ruardean Village Hall. In total he's raised £3,062.91 which has now been topped up by a £1,000 donation from Gloucester Round Table.

All the money is going to the GEAR Project which stands for Gloucestershire Emergency Accommodation Resource and is the only place where the county's homeless can find an emergency bed for the night.

Nicky Bale from Ruspidge, GEAR'S operational manager visited Ned's school – Ruardean Primary – earlier this week to talk about his achievements and the impact they've made.

"He's an amazing lad and it's been extraordinary how many doors he's opened."
