Mark Harper MP ought now to resign as MP for the Forest of Dean. He has failed in the first duty of any MP, namely, to represent his or her constituents.

The conduct of the Coalition in respect of English forests is little better than that of the rulers in Egypt who have simply ignored the manifest will of the people over many years.

If Mark Harper MP is a man of honour he will (like David Davis) resign his seat and fight the constituency on the basis of the policy that as a member of the Government he is trying to impose on the people who elected him. This was certainly not a part of any manifesto presented to the electors of the Forest of Dean in 2010.

In my view such dishonourable behaviour is an incitement to violence, in Coleford no less than in Cairo.
