A YOUNG fashion student who will graduate from DeMontford University, Leicester, in July has landed herself with a top job with a prestigious internationally known fashion house.
Hannah Thomas, 22, of Monmouth, has accepted a position as a designer with the top-notch clothing company Abercrombie and Fitch, and will be moving to the company's headquarters in Ohio in October.
"I'm really excited, and it still hasn't sunk in, despite the fact that I was offered the job back in February," said Hannah. "Having a job lined up is a big weight off my mind - and working for a company as prestigious as Abercrombie and Fitch is a dream come true."
The opportunity to be noticed by such a famous brand came about when the students on the university Contour Fashion Course were offered the chance to work on an extra-curricular project: designing a lingerie collection for the company's 'Gilly Hicks' range, which is aimed at young women.
Hannah found inspiration for her designs in the countryside around her home in Monmouth, and was thrilled when she learned that she had been shortlisted for the post. "I was interviewed in the UK and was then flown to the States where I had three more interviews," she said, adding: "The whole experience was amazing – and they looked after me so well."
Sarah Brennand, recruitment manager for Abercrombie and Fitch, said: "We're delighted that we are able, once again, to offer a job to a DeMontford University graduate – and we are looking forward to welcoming Hannah to our headquarters in the U.S. in October."
The Contour Fashion Course at DeMontford celebrates its 65th anniversary this year and is regarded as one of the best in the world by industry experts.
