AROUND 36 students from Shanghai are shortly arriving in the Forest for the first International Summer School ever to be held in the Dean.

The students, aged 15 to 17, will be coming to Gloucestershire College's Royal Forest of Dean Campus at Five Acres on July 11 for three weeks.

The students will stay with local host families and the college is currently looking for additional families in the Forest of Dean area. Host families receive £125 per week for each student and may accommodate up to four students. •To help get off to a good start, the word for 'welcome' in Chinese is 'huan ying' pronounced hwan yeeng. And the word for 'forest' is 'sen Lin' or 'shu lin'. How the students will get on with the Forest dialect is anyone's guess.
