OUR readers have been photographed with their favourite paper in many parts of the world – on top of mountains in South America, on The Great Wall of China, in Australia, Africa, Russia and North America.
Now you can meet a few more avid readers – from a school in Kisumu, Kenya.
The school is linked with our own Dene Magna School at Mitcheldean, so naturally enough the Kenyan youngsters keep in touch with events here by reading the Review.
Iain Baird, head of science at Dene Magna, recently visited Kisumu. He told the students about the Forest of Dean and also taught them.
He said: "They were a pleasure to teach and though the school lacks even basic resources, the standard of learning was very high."
Mr Baird's visit is part of the "Footsteps" project which links a group of Gloucestershire teachers with schools in Kenya. The aim is to help educate youngsters on environmetal issues, particularly waste management.
Mr Baird told the Review: "The Kenyans are very versatile at reusing and recycling waste. Old car tyres are turned into sandals, whilst old car doors were transformed into wheelbarrows and buckets. They are way ahead of us in the recycling of waste, yet we produce far more waste than they do."
•By the way, we have never been to the South or North Poles or, so far as we know, photographed on a submarine. Now it's up to you!
