DOZENS of pupils from Forest primary schools entered this year’s Christmas card design for MP Mark Harper.

But there could only be one winner and that was nine-year-old Isabelle Kiely from Primrose Church of England Primary Academy.

Mr Harper said there was only one rule and that was the card had to capture the religious nature of Christmas.

Isabelle based her card design on the Three Wise Men who travelled to Bethlehem bearing gifts for baby Jesus.

Mr Harper said: “I invite all the primary schools in the constituency to enter my annual Christmas card competition each year. This year I received a large number of entries.

“The only rule that I stipulate is that the card has to capture the religious nature of Christmas, and Isabelle’s certainly did this.

“Her entry really stood out and I am delighted with how good the card looks this year. I am grateful to everyone who took the time to enter – the overall standard was excellent. Isabelle has certainly set the bar high for next year’s entries for Christmas 2016.”

Children were invited to design a card and the school had to select the best three to put forward for the competition.

School administrator at Primrose Hill Church of England Primary Academy, Gill Drew added: “This is a big competition with all the schools in his area being invited to enter, so we are thrilled to have the winner at our school.”

Runners-up were Ellie Pritchard (Ellwood), Jess Ward (Picklenash) and Eden Addis (English Bicknor).
