A PARKEND mountain bike rider took the coveted Lions Trophy at the ninth Forest of Dean Enduro on Sunday.

Jared Linden competed in a strong field in the gruelling four-lap event and recorded an impressive time of just under three hours for the 40 miles.

Meanwhile Carole Walsh stretched every sinew and muscle to win the ladies section in just under four and a half hours.

The challenge involves a 10, 20 and 40-mile off-road riding experience around the Forest starting from Cannop Valley at Pedalabikeaway. The £2,000 raised at the event will be used by the Lions Clubs of the Forest of Dean, who organise the event, to help good local causes.

The Lions next mountain bike event will be the 2015 Wild Boar Chase on May 17, which this year attracted 900 entries. Entries will open in the New Year. A list of results for the Enduro can be found on http://www.fodmbe.org.uk">www.fodmbe.org.uk.
