What a mean-spirited letter you published last week. I have lived in St Briavels for the last 15 years and at no time have I experienced or observed anything like the inconsiderate driving which prompted the letter. Nor have I experienced anything other than a smile and a pleasant response when I have greeted people in the village, local denizens and visitors alike.
A whole village is damned by the subjective scribblings of an anonymous correspondent. The anonymity speaks for itself and, of course, we don't know whether the drivers in question were locals or not or whether, given that "this happens on a regular basis", there is some fault on the part of the writer.
Perhaps your correspondent should take a long look in the mirror and, bearing in mind the final paragraph of their letter, reflect on how much happier we all would be if we were spared their jaundiced ramblings.
– Alan Robertson, St Briavels.
