TEENAGERS have had a lot of bad press lately for hanging around towns, and the popular view seems to be that they should have something better to do to keep them out of trouble.
I belong to the Forest of Dean Area Wind Band which is a group of over 50 teenagers who meet weekly to play a variety of instruments. At the moment we are rehearsing for a CD we would like to record, but despite our best efforts (such as a sponsored practice, coffee morning and bag packing) we have not yet raised enough money to be able to afford the recording session. Instead of moaning about young people, it would be great if groups like ours could have some community support.
This Saturday, March 27, we are having an open rehearsal, with coffee and cakes, from 10am to 1pm at Lakers School. Anyone who would like to join us, or support us, or who just want to see what we do, would be more than welcome. Alternatively, any sponsorship or donation that you could offer us could be sent to our musical director Kristyann Symonds, Calder House, George Road, Yorkley GL15 4TL.
Thank-you for taking the time to read this letter, I do hope you are able to help us out! – Miranda Topham, Viney Woodside.
