COLEFORD Bowling Club's annual open tournament grows by the year.

Now 16 seasons old, the competition has become a popular fixture in the club's summer calendar. And the plan, says Coleford official Shaun Parsons, is for it to become even bigger and better next year.

Teams from Herefordshire, Cheltenham, Monmouth and Lydney were among the 16 sides competing in teams of four in two groups of eight. At the end of a day-long competition the winning four came from the home club – Chris Ruddman, Andy Griffin, Mike Morgan and Malcolm Dyer.

"It was a spelendid day. The weather, the food and the competition was excellent and the event grows more popular by the year," said Mr Parsons.
