USED car dealer Thompson and Thompson came to the rescue of the leading carpenter of Channel 4's DIY SOS who needed a set of wheels to get him to filming.

Mark Miller travelled up from his home town of Abergavenny to the Caldicot showroom to swap his Renault Kangoo van, which was ready for the scrap heap, for a Mitsubishi Shogun.

Peter Thompson greeted his famous customer and said: "His old van was fast approaching its life end and so he needed a more study vehicle by the next day as he had to travel to Manchester to shoot the next episode of the programme with Nick Knowles and the team.

"So, Thompsons pulled out all the stops to get him on the road by the next morning."
