PUPILS at Yorkley Primary School thought they’d missed out on the chance to appear in a national televised Christmas choir rendition of Sleigh Ride – until the last clip.

Spotted at 2mins 35secs, the pupils sang the classic and then signed off with ‘Merry Christmas!’ as part of BBC One’s The One Show Virtual Choir 2015.

Teaching assistant, Kate Fyffe said: “Imagine the tension as the sing-song went on air, lots of clips sent in by viewers who all put their own slant on this popular Christmas song. And then right at the end, Yorkley Primary School children waved to the camera and wished viewers ‘Happy Christmas!’

“The children came into school especially on a Sunday morning in late November dressed in Christmas jumpers and hats/antlers to do their final rehearsal and to record the song, which had to be sung without a backing track.

“This was very challenging but the children didn’t give up and they sang beautifully, remembered the actions, and then signed off with ‘Merry Christmas!’

Producers at The One Show selected their favourite clips and ’spliced’ them all together to make a Christmas music video.
