ELECTIONS may appear to be boring but the impact on our lives and income is real. Labour, judging by literature being dropped, would have us believe that all problems this side of the bridge are the fault of government in Westminster. Yet the Welsh Government is responsible for education, health and local government finance – amongst other things – here in Wales.
Thanks to Labour, students in Wales are funded by £604 less than in England, two in every five students have reading skills below their age group, and exam results in Wales are the worst in the United Kingdom according to international rankings.
Westminster gave additional funding to ensure council tax being frozen, that money hasn't been passed on to local authorities.
In England the Conservative-led government is increasing resources in the NHS over the coming three years, but in Wales Labour are slashing NHS funding by half a billion pounds over the same period. There are now 24 new cancer treatments that are not routinely available to patients in Wales but are prescribed in England through the Cancer Drugs Fund. Statistics show that one-in-four of us are affected, maybe a close family member, by cancer. Welsh Conservatives are committed to introduce a Cancer Drugs Fund in Wales.
You can't trust Labour with your money or your health.
– Roy Garner, Conservative Candidate for Larkfield Ward, Chairman, Monmouthshire Conservative Association.
